Lisa Gatewood: Bio

Lisa Gatewood is a singer/songwriter skilled at crafting some of the saddest contemporary folk songs you've ever laid ears on. Born and raised in Milwaukee, WI, she graduated with honors from the Milwaukee High School of the Arts. Gatewood later attended the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Theatre Studies. Although Lisa recorded her first demo in 2000 with Victor DeLorenzo at Joe's Real Recording, she only began performing her original music live in 2005. Performances at local open-mics lead to gigs at Bremen Cafe, Linneman's Riverwest Inn and the late, great Mosaic Piano Bar. Lisa released her first album, "I've Read Salinger", in October 2007. The album was recorded at Sound Sound Studios in Milwaukee, WI with Engineer/Producer Tony Scholl. This collection of deeply personal songs features other Milwaukee musicians such as Heidi Spencer, Victor Delorenzo, Keith Pulvermacher, Dr. Martin Jack Rosenblum and producer Tony Scholl. Lisa Gatewood & Her Borrowed Band recorded a live album at Linneman's Riverwest Inn in Milwaukee, WI in September 2009, which is due for release in 2010.
