Lisa Gatewood
Lisa Gatewood is a singer/songwriter crafting heart wrenching songs on Milwaukee's lower eastside. Born and raised there she graduated with honors from the Milwaukee High School of the Arts (where she later returned to teach master classes in level 1 theatre) and will soon graduate from the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee with a BA in Theatre Studies.
After working for several years for local theatre companies (Next Act Theatre, Milwaukee Shakespeare Co., Skylight Opera Theatre) she decided to try her hand at playing her songs somewhere other than her living room. Gatewood played "California" (featured on her debut album) at Bremen Cafe's thursday night open mic.
Now, three years later, Lisa is thrilled to have finally released her first album, "I've Read Salinger". This collection of deeply personal and moving songs has already begun to gain momentum in Milwaukee's rich music community. Her collaborations with other Milwaukee musicians such as Heidi Spencer, Victor Delorenzo, Keith Pulvermacher, Dr. Martin Jack Rosenblum and Tony Scholl (who also produced the album) bring Gatewood's music to a new level and a new stage of her career.
Lisa continues to reside on the lower-east side and has crushes on approximately 16 men.
